Locomotor (Jumping) - Survival Tag

Warm Up

Set up an area with hoops and spots lying around - jumping distance apart. Players begin in hoops or on spots and must jump on the spots and hoops to get away from the taggers. Taggers must also jump around on the hoops and spots trying to tag their classmates. If tagged, five star jumps must be completed.

Step 2 of 3

Locomotor (Jumping) - Jumping Square

Activities

Set up an area using cones in a square big enough to fit all the children inside. Two sides are numbered 1 and two sides are numbered 2. Children stand evenly spaced on the four sides of the square. Call out a number '1' or '2'. All the children on the side that is called, jump across to the opposite side with out touching anyone. When '3' is called, all four sides jump to the opposite side.

Modifications

Change the type of jumping movement (hopping).

Step 3 of 3

Locomotor (Jumping) - Rob the Lily Pads

Activities

Place some cones around the outside of the area of spots and hoops used for "Survival Tag". Place all the beanbags inside a hoop in the middle of the area. Split classes into 4 or 5 groups, with each group lined up behind a cone. One person at a time from each group goes and has to jump on the spots and hoops to get to the middle. They then pick up one beanbag and bring it back to their team before giving the next person a high five, signalling that it is their turn. The team with the most beanbags at the end wins.
