Split children into 2 teams. Place equal amounts of red and blue cones out with tennis balls balanced on 50% of them.
Round 1: On the coaches whistle children collect a ball from an opposition cone and place it on one of their own empty cones. After one minute the game stops and the team with the most balls balanced on their cones wins.
Round 2: Children must complete a throw & catch to keep the ball. If a child drops the ball they must return it then find another ball.
Round 3: Children must complete a clap & catch to keep the ball. If a child drops the ball they must return it then find another ball.
Encourage children to keep mobile until they find a ball.
This game can also be played with bean bags or a bigger ball to make it easier.
make area smaller or bigger. Use bigger or smaller ball. Students must catch with one hand
use a big ball
Set up an area with a dividing line splitting the area into two. The line can be on the ground or up in the air like a tennis/volleyball net. The class is split into two teams with one team on one side being the "catchers" and the other on the other side being the "throwers". The throwers start with all the items on their side and must throw the items over the division line for the catchers to catch. If an item is caught then it is carried over and placed in a hoop on the side. If an item is dropped then it is thrown back to be tried again. The game finishes when all items are in the hoop.
Change the height of the division line to change difficulty. Adjust the size of the area of play to change difficulty. Change the type of item used for throwing to make the game easier or harder. Create more teams of less people.
Players pair up with one item to throw between them. One person from the class is designated as the runner. The runner must run from one end of the court to the other and then back as fast as they can, while the other children must see how many passes and catches they can get in that time frame. If the item being thrown is dropped then it does not count. Keep changing the runner to vary the time frame. Whichever pair has the record for most catches will be the winning pair.
