Ki O Rahi - Full Game

Set up the zones for Ki O Rahi as shown in the below picture. Split the class into two teams. Delegate one team to be the "Ki Oma" and one team to be the "Taniwha". This will change over each quarter so that every team has two turns at each. The team that "Ki Oma", when on offence, must firstly tag as many Pou as they can with the ball before running with the ball through Te Roto Zone and into Pawero Zone without being tagged by the defence. If they successfully get through, then they would score the equivilant points to the number of Pou that were tagged before running through. If the ball is dropped, a point is scored, or the attacking team is tagged 3 times, the possession changes. The "Taniwha" team, when on offence, must try to tag as many Pou as they can with the ball before throwing the ball at the tupu. If the ball hits the tupu then they collect as many points as Pou that were tagged, e.g. if 4 pou were tagged before the tupu was hit, then 4 points would be collected. If the Tupu is hit or if the ball is dropped, then possession is changed. Also if the defending team manages to tag someone with the ball 3 times, then possession is changed.

Modifications

Allow a certain number of drops of the ball before change of possession if catching is too difficult. Allow a greater number of tags before a change of possession. Space the Pou out more if the area is too crowded.
