Lesson Plan Overview

To understand the importance of rebounding quickly and efficiently and knowing where someone else in your team is to pass it to. As well as this, looking up so you can see the rebound direction off the backboard/rim.

Key Objectives

Whats more important, dribbling the ball or passing it (after a rebound)?

Dribbling takes a longer time for the ball to travel down the court than making quick passes, so passing it is more effective.

Activities

Rebounding

Split the team into two even groups.

One line lined up behind a cone at approx a corner of keyhole. This line is the shooters. The other line is lined up behind a cone on the base line. They are rebounders.

First person in the shooting line takes their shot, While they are shooing, the first person in the rebound line runs out and collects it, passing to the next person in the shooting line immediately. Both people return to the back of the same line until everyone has had their shot, and then the lines swap.

Underline importance of rebounder getting there to collect shot quickly, and looking up whilst doing so. Their pass off to the next person in line should be quick and accurate.
