Activities

Hoop To Hoop

SPACE:
less distance between hoops will allow for an increase in rugby ball transfers
- increased distance between hoops will decrease the rugby ball transfers
- small space will force students to practise agility skills and avoid contact
- small space = smaller and lesser amount of passes to be made
- large space will allow students to practise running with a rugby ball at top end speed
- large space = bigger and greater amount of passes to be made

TASK:
- regular passes vs. spiral passes
- create a target (specific amount of passes to be made between hoops) for competent students

EQUIPMENT:
- can use basketballs to practise the correct action of executing a pass before moving into performing a spiral pass
- can fill hoops with all sorts of objects (tennis balls, soccer balls, netballs etc) to think about how passes can vary across different sports
- Use less equipment (students have less time to identify free rugby balls = HARDER)
- Use more equipment (students have more time to identify rugby balls = EASIER)

PEOPLE:
- large groups = less passes/ball carries
- small groups = more passes/ball carries
