Divide the class into groups of three or four students. Give each group a set of cards with different combinations of events. Explain that each card has a different combination of events and they need to calculate the probability of each combination. Ask each group to discuss and come up with a solution. Give them time to discuss and come up with a solution. Once they have come up with a solution, ask each group to explain their answer.
For example, if the card has the combination of rolling a die and flipping a coin, the group needs to calculate the probability of rolling a 1 and flipping a head. In this case, the probability will be 1/12.
Once each group has explained their answer, provide feedback and correct any mistakes. Ask the groups to discuss why the answer is correct and how the probability is calculated.
